Jessamyn Stanley & ashe phoenix say cannabis is why they’re still in a relationship

Jessamyn Stanley and ashe phoenix join the Blunt Blowin’ Mama podcast for the Couples And Weed series. The couple admits that cannabis is the reason why they are still in a relationship after three years together because it allows them to truly surrender and listen to each other — especially, when conflict arises.

The pair are the founders of We Go High, which is a cannabis justice initiative with the simple mission: “No One Should Be In Jail For Weed.” They are both very passionate about speaking out about the people in jail for a plant that’s become over the years a multi-million dollar industry.

ashe phoenix and Jessamyn are both daily cannabis consumers and share almost every smoke sesh together. They even have a morning ritual of three joints and then movement or breath work — calling it the best way to start the day.

The days when they skip their morning cannabis ritual are usually when conflict arises. But they say smoking weed makes it easier to get into the necessary and sometimes hard to have conversations that ultimately strengthen their partnership.

However, there have been times when one of them has refused weed as a peace offering because they didn’t want to lose their power in the midst of the argument.

We get into this dynamic and how the refusal of a cannabis peace offering can often be rooted in fear and trauma. Because, if allowed, cannabis may offer resolve, surrender and clarity during times of conflict for couples — but sometimes that surrender and release of ego can be scary. This is where the weed comes in and Ashe breaks it down perfectly.

On this episode of the Blunt Blowin’ Mama podcast:
