In the newest episode Blunt Blowin’ Mama chats with Marlo Nicole the owner and operator of Just Mary Cannabis.
Just Mary Cannabis is a weed delivery service and fully formed cannabis brand. The company specializes in helping customers buy their cannabis in bulk. (think Costco) Not only do they deliver weed they also have their own flower and products they cultivat. As a black owned business Marlo also makes sure to feature other black owned cannabis products in her lineup of offerings.
Marlo never saw herself in the cannabis space, she doesn’t consume weed, but she did see the positive effects it had on her mothers physical ailments, as well as other friends and family. When asked about her view on cannabis, Marlo refers to herself as an ally. The founder is no stranger to the legal processes surrounding cannabis. In fact, she used to be in law enforcement as a police officer, talk about a 360! As a black woman Marlo experienced racism and misogyny in profound ways while working in law enforcement, this resulted in her leaving.
In this episode we talk about what the process of getting licensed looks like, why the pathway to ownership in the cannabis space is littered with hurdles, and the stark reality that social equity license holders face a disproportionately challenging battle to get their cannabis businesses off the ground.
